Pyrantelum Owix is ​​an antiparasitic drug in the form of an oral suspension, intended for adults and children over 2 years of age, which is used to treat intestinal pinworm (threadworms) infection. The active substance of the drug is pyrantel, which does not irritate the intestines or cause the pinworms to move.

Pyrantelum Owix acts on mature forms and on parasites in the early stages of development, but does not act on larvae during their migration in tissues. Immobilized parasites are removed from the intestine by peristaltic movements of the intestines.

Indications
The drug is indicated for use in the case of enterobiasis.
The condition for using the drug is the presence of pinworms in the stool and (or) the anus area.

Composition:
5 ml of suspension contains:
active substance: pyrantel in the form of pyrantel embonate 250 mg,
excipients: sodium benzoate (E211), carmellose sodium, sorbitol 70% (E420), glycerol, aluminum-magnesium silicate, polysorbate 80, povidone, apricot flavor, simethicone emulsion, citric acid monohydrate, sodium hydroxide, purified water.

Action: Antiparasitic.

Dosage
Always use this medicine exactly as described in the patient information leaflet or as directed by your doctor or pharmacist. If in doubt, ask your doctor or pharmacist. The medicine is used depending on the patient’s body weight:
patients weighing 11-16 kg: 2.5 ml (125 mg),
patients weighing 17-28 kg: 5.0 ml (250 mg),
patients weighing 29-39 kg: 7.5 ml (357 mg),
patients weighing 40-50 kg: 10 ml (500 mg),
patients weighing 51-62 kg: 12.5 ml (625 mg),
patients weighing 63-75 kg: 15 ml (750 mg),
adults weighing more than 75 kg: 20 ml (1000 mg).
Take with or without a meal.
Shake before use until a homogeneous suspension is obtained.
The dose should be repeated two or three weeks after the first dose.
The package includes a graduated measuring cup to facilitate dosing. There is no need to use laxatives before administering the medicine. If symptoms persist after the second dose, contact your doctor.

Contraindications:
Allergy to pyrantel or any of the other ingredients of this medicine.
If you are taking piperazine.
If you are undergoing treatment for myasthenia gravis (a disease of skeletal muscles).

Storage
Do not store above 25ºC.
Store in the original package in order to protect from light.
Once opened, the medicine can be stored for 21 days.
