Xylitol is a type of specific sugar obtained from natural sources such as trees, corn, vegetables and fruit. It is also produced in our body during digestion. The appearance and taste of xylitol is very similar to white sugar, but due to, above all, the lower glycaemic index is much healthier than it. Finnish xylitol is a high quality natural sweetener. It is obtained from the wood of deciduous trees, most often from birch bark.

Xylitol despite its sweet taste contains about 40% less calories (only 240 calories per 100g) and the aforementioned lower glycaemic index than white sugar. Therefore, it is a good alternative for people who are overweight, diabetes and during weight reduction.

Xylitol can be used just like white sugar (for coffee, tea, desserts etc.). Only it is not suitable for yeast baking. Use of xylitol should be started with caution, as xylitol in large quantities may have a laxative effect.

Contraindications: Do not use for children under 3 years of age.

Notes: The human body should gradually get used to the production of more digestive enzyme, therefore xylitol should be introduced into the diet gradually. It is best to start with 1-2 teaspoons a day and increase the amount regularly. After a period of about 2-3 weeks, you can use xylitol in the same way as previously used white sugar.
