Diptam is a perennial from the Rutaceae family that gives off a very strong aroma. It comes from Asia, grows in China and Japan, sometimes occurs in Southern Europe. It is known from before our era. The mention of probably diptama is found in the Bible, where it was called the “burning bush”. Diptam flowers are very characteristic, which are gathered in clusters and exude a very pleasant aroma. They can take on different colours – white, pink, lilac, red.
Diptam root contains many substances, e.g. alkaloids, saponins, essential oil, glycosides and flavonoids.
