Plant description:
Diptam is a perennial from the Rutaceae family that gives off a very strong aroma. It comes from Asia, grows in China and Japan, sometimes occurs in Southern Europe. It is known from before our era. The mention of probably diptama is found in the Bible, where it was called the “burning bush”. Diptam flowers are very characteristic, which are gathered in clusters and exude a very pleasant aroma. They can take on different colours – white, pink, lilac, red.
Diptam root contains many substances, e.g. alkaloids, saponins, essential oil, glycosides and flavonoids.

Properties and traditional use of diptam root:
Diptam root decoction is used in folk medicine primarily because of its beneficial effect on the digestive and urinary systems. Accelerates the removal of toxins, helps prevent the multiplication of parasites. By increasing diuresis, it helps in removing deposits in the urinary tract. It is also used during respiratory infections. It helps regulate the menstrual cycle in women and soothes inflammation of the genitals. In ancient times, diptam was also used for its beneficial effect on the complexion. Diptam root is a very important element of the diet of St. Hildegard, who recommended it, among other things, as a help for the heart.

Contraindications to the use of diptam root:
Diptame cannot be used by pregnant women, it should also not be consumed by breastfeeding women and children. Since diptamium may increase the absorption of UV radiation, you should not sunbathe while using it.
