According to herbal literature, sweet flag may be used as an excellent hair care product, it is also a herb widely used in phytotherapy. Calamus rhizome is used because of its strengthening properties in the general weakening of the digestive organs, in gastric and intestinal images, as well as in colic. It also helps with the enlargement of the lymph nodes. The rhizome warms up and distorts the stomach and intestines. They can be recommended in the case of decreased metabolism, as well as in anemia and edema.
Calamus is a plant. The root (rhizome) is used to make medicine. It’s used for gastrointestinal problems including ulcers, inflammation of the stomach lining (gastritis), intestinal gas (flatulence), upset stomach and loss of appetite (anorexia). Calamus is also used as a calming medicine (sedative), to induce sweating, and to treat rheumatoid arthritis and stroke. Some people chew calamus to remove the smell of tobacco, as a stimulant, to increase their sense of well-being, and as a hallucinogen. Some people apply calamus directly to the skin to treat certain skin diseases. In foods, calamus is used as a spice.
Usage: Sprinkle one teaspoon with boiling water and leave covered for brewing for about 10-15 minutes. Drink 1-2 times a day.
