CHARACTERISTICS OF THE PLANT
Ginkgo biloba is a tree in the ginkgo family. It is an endemic and endangered species, currently found naturally only in south-eastern China. These trees in their natural habitat reach a height of 30-40 meters, and in Europe they are slightly lower. They are male and female and are classified as gymnosperms. The characteristic ginkgo leaves have a fan-shaped shape and are referred to as double-leaf. They are light green in summer and turn yellow in autumn. Ginkgo blooms only after 40 years of cultivation. Male flowers are in the form of yellow cats, and female flowers consist of two naked, green buds. Ginkgo seeds hang from the branches on long stalks and are surrounded by a soft parchment. They are edible after roasting.
